The Ballad Of The High School Athlete

October 16, 2009 by Fun Fitness · Leave a Comment

From what I've gathered, it's basically the same everywhere, but different. And for those of us lucky enough to have participated, high school athletics was an education in itself. The Baltimore Ravens 2009 first-round draft choice, Michael Oher, made the move from right tackle to left tackle in last week's contest between the Ravens and the Bengals. He lined up against Bengals defensive end Antawn Odom, who led the NFL with eight sacks going into the game. Odom finished the game with eight

‘Wii Fit Plus’: Workout program or active minigames?

October 12, 2009 by Fun Fitness · Leave a Comment

If my game is telling the truth, I started playing “Wii Fit” almost a year ago. When I bought it, I was looking for a way to stay active, rain or shine, without having to drive somewhere. My plan of buying an elliptical trainer lasted about two seconds until I realized that the same amount of money would buy me a Wii . “Wii Fit” would be more fun, and a Wii — which had been on my shopping list since its launch — would be way less likely to turn into a really expensive coat rack. Everyone I kn

What the Buck interview on Figure Skating!

September 3, 2009 by Fun Fitness · Leave a Comment

Thank you to skating champion and friend Jennifer Kirk for interviewing me! Click the photo above to see the post! Skating isn’t like other sports, where when you enter an office or bar, the building is filled with the chatter of people talking about last night’s game or the new off-season acquisition. This doesn’t mean, though, that there aren’t huge skating fans in all sorts of social arenas. Case in point: Few would watch the hit YouTube show What the Buck?! and know that host Michael B

Photo by Jon LopezJosh Selby throws it down at Rucker ParkThe 4th annual Boost Mobile Elite 24 event, and it was an event indeed, was off the hook! First of all, anytime you put the top twenty-four high school ballers in the country on one court you’re bound to witness some quality hoops. But they weren’t gathered on just any court. They were gathered in the mecca: NYC. The hallowed grounds of Rucker Park, no less; however, due to poor weather conditions the game was actually moved to Gaucho’s G

EA Sports Active

EA Sports Active Wow what a workout!! Ok, so I was hesitant about spending $60 on a workout game when I already owned three of them - all exclusively for the Wii. After my first 50 minute workout though I can truthfully say that this trumps all of them. It is like Gold’s Gym, the Wii Fit, and My Fitness Coach all rolled into one. After my workout, which included everything from boxing to dancing to running to shooting hoops, I was sweating profusely and feeling great! You can Buy

Bruins to host Flyers in 3rd Winter Classic at Fenway

In case anyone was asleep at the wheel yesterday, the NHL unveiled the worst kept secret (Yes. Even worse than Lemaire’s Devil return) by announcing that the Bruins and Flyers will take part in the third Winter Classic on New Year’s Day at historic Fenway Park. What a scene that should be with the Green Monster the back drop for the continuation of a new tradition- the cool concept of pond hockey front and center on NBC showcasing our game. Listening to some of what Boston Red Sox Team Presi
